Hired by Horner (Reynolds) to star in an adult film, Eddie (Wahlberg) takes on his first
role with the name Dirk Diggler. His first scene involves Maggie (Moore), an aging pornstar
who doesn't hide the fact she is attracted to him. The filming goes well and the crew congratulates
Eddie when it is done. Paul Thomas Anderson was criticized for the often overly long scenes
in the film and this may be one of them. Yet at the same time, there is a sense of uncut reality.
The crew, however shabby-looking, are professional about their work, and the documentary
atmosphere pervades.
