After a very physical and emotionally draining, first sexual encounter, Stephen(Irons)
and Anna(Binoche) lay in bed, still nude, discussing the nature of human relationships,
people, themselves, and existence in paraphrase as if in an attempt to justify the sin
they have committed. Coincidentally enough(or perhaps not), their first time intimately
together begins almost painfully, as if to emphasize the idea of "damage" and its
effects. You get brief glimpses of Binoche's breasts while she shifts around in bed
with Irons.
