Almasy (Fiennes) and Katherine (Thomas) have grown quite intimate with each other. They
bond with one another as they soak happily together in a warm bath and enjoy each other's company.
A disparaging remark upsets Katherine, who gets
up and leaves Almasy, quietly, cooly, and with an air of uncertainty. As Thomas gets out of
the bath tub, you get to see a complete profile of her gorgeous (but not voluptuous) figure, which
has a regined quality. However, the real attention should be to the coolness of her portrayal. Instead of
an outburst, she locks up and quietly leaves, a scene that holds dramatic impact. This is what true movie
making is about: imagery, not words.
