Everything Brenner (Travolta) discovered has led back to General Joseph Campbell (Cromwell) who
must now reveal his role in her daughter's last night. Receiving a call from her, the general goes
to the rendezvous point to find her daughter tied up and lying naked on the cold ground in an act to
recreate the rape for her father to see, and finally acknowledge. But by now he is sick and tired of
her ways and brushes her off yet again. At first she is defiant, but quickly becomes pleading as he
walks away. The viewer suspects her pleading might still be part of her psychological war against her father,
but later on in the film, it is learned those cries for his return were genuine. Despite what she learned,
her father simply didn't fall in the typical psychological profiles this time.
Throughout the movie the question of whether or not a body double was used during the rape and corpse scene
was constantly asked because Stefanson's face was never shown with her nude body in the same shot. However,
all doubts are cast away in this scene when her full profile is finally shown on screen at the same time.
